Granular tiles that are damaged look dark in the damaged regions where the granules are damaged. They have been worn away or cracked due to sun, wind, and snow. These tiles should be repaired during roof repairs. Beck says that any nails that are damaged by caulking need to be replaced or pulled back by brand new nails.
